The program is comprised of seven milestones that will take your child from beginning to proficient reader in 3 to 6 months. All you need is a computer and 10-15 minutes per day of your child's attention. Just put in the CD-R and follow the self-guided instructions.

Milestone Reading helps to build your child's confidence in their ability to read because each lesson builds on the previous lessons by introducing a new sound to be learned while reviewing all previous sounds as well. Sight words (high frequency words that cannot be pronounced phonetically) are taught in the context of sentences using repetition, therefore there are no long lists to memorize.

The Milestone Reading Program consists of 4 CD-ROMs that include supplemental readers.

Each lesson targets one sound at a time, first by introducing the sound and then having the child read several words with that sound in it. Finally, the child will read complete sentences and stories composed of the targeted sound.

Below is a description of the sounds targeted in each lesson:

Learn the Alphabet
Learn the Alphabet CD-ROM and workbook will help your child learn the 26 sounds of the alphabet in 10 easy lessons. An alphabet workbook is included so that your child can practice writing the letters while simultaneously learning the sounds.

Milestone One
Milestone One targets the short vowel sounds a,e,i,o,u, then teaches the child how to blend the vowel sounds with the consonants to form words.

The next step will be to read those words in sentences and then finally reading whole stories by themselves, with no assistance from the parent.
